Ana Maria Canelos Aragon

Member of the university’s Art Committee, Ana Maria managed over 800 art pieces and 500 crafts, designing and mounting various exhibitions. She coordinated the restoration of the film “Ecuador 1929” and organized the VII Congreso Ecuatoriano de Historia. She also played key roles in publishing projects and the establishment of the Plutarco Naranjo Museum and the Museo Andino de Artesanías. Her extensive experience spans 30 years in international academic event coordination and curating exhibitions.  She is an accomplished professional in the fields of art, history, and restoration, with a degree from the Universidad Tecnológica Equinoccial de Quito. She served as Assistant to the Rector (1992-2006) and Chief of Staff (2006-2016) at the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar, Ecuador, also contributing to the university’s communications team.

Diego Raza Carrillo

Professor in the Management area and is a coordinator of the project office at the Simón Bolívar Andean University. He is an Economist, MBA and Doctor of Education. Academic Coordinator of the master’s degree in financial management and financial risk administration, currently researching banking and climate change. Author of several articles on planning, finance, management, and education. In the public sphere, he has been a consultant for almost all State portfolios in Ecuador. He has worked to strengthen the Superintendence of Banks, Companies, Telecommunications, and State offices, including the Presidency of the Republic. He has also experience as a public banking consultant.

Ramiro Avila Santamaría

Professor of Law at the UASB-E. Coordinator of the master’s degree in Rights of Nature and Interculturality at the UASB-E. Author of several publications, including ‘Los derechos económicos, sociales y culturales. Doctrina, jurisprudencia y normativa’ (Quito: UASB/Ediciones Legales, 2020), ‘La utopía del oprimido: la naturaleza y el buen vivir en el pensamiento crítico, el derecho y la literatura’ (Madrid: Akal, 2019). He has a PhD in Legal Sociology from the Universidad del País Vasco. He has a Master’s degree in Law from Columbia University (New York) and in Legal Sociology from the Universidad del País Vasco-Instituto Internacional de Sociología Jurídica (Oñati). Former judge of the Constitutional Court of Ecuador (2019-2022). 

Yaku Pérez Guartambel

Doctor in Jurisprudence from the Universidad de Cuenca. Specialist in Criminal Law and Indigenous Justice from UNIANDES, and Specialist in Environmental Law from UTPL. Judge of the International Tribunal for the Rights of Nature, Former presidential candidate of Ecuador 2021, Mayer of the province of Azuay 2019-2020, General Coordinator of the CAOI (2017-2020). President of the Confederation of the Kichwa Peoples of Ecuador ECUARUNARI (2013 -2019), president of the Federation of Indigenous and Peasant Organizations of Azuay FOA (2003 -2012). Has published books translated into English and German: ‘La Asamblea Constituyente’; ‘Justicia Indígena’; ‘Agua u Oro: Kimsakocha la resistencia por el agua’; and ‘Consultas Comunitarias en Ecuador, La Resistencia’.
