Oralidad e historia social: archivos y memorias

In August 2024, the EDGES project, in collaboration with the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (UMSA, Bolivia), organized an extension mini-course focused on strengthening methodologies of orality and archival research in the study of Indigenous knowledges. The mini-course, Oralidad e historia social: archivos y memorias, was delivered by the team from the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (UMSA) and forms part of the EDGES project’s scientific communication efforts under Work Package 2 (Tracing Indigenous Knowledges in the Past: Orality, Archives and Judicial Sources).

Structured in four sessions, the course offers a critical and interdisciplinary perspective on oral and archival sources for the study of Indigenous peoples in Bolivia, addressing the sacred and territorial dimensions of Andean cosmology, archaeological heritage and its relationship with museums and communities, historical sources on the Indigenous peoples of Bolivia’s lowlands, and the methodology of oral archives and Indigenous memory.
