Committees and Boards

Steering Committee

The Steering Committee is composed of 19 members, including the Principal Investigator (PI) of the coordinating institution (CHAM – NOVA FCSH) and one representative from each of the 18 other EDGES institutions. The committee meets twice a year, with the option for members to participate via videoconference.

Each year, the Steering Committee elects three of its members to join the Executive Committee. In addition to selecting their representatives, the committee oversees the achievement of project milestones and planned secondments. To facilitate this, WP Leaders are required to submit an annual report detailing their activities and the status of their deliverables.

The Steering Committee is also responsible for reviewing and approving the following year’s report, staying informed about all official communications with the European Union, and endorsing annual reports on project administration and coordination, including the signing of the Grant Agreement.

Executive Committee

EDGES is managed daily by the Project Coordinator and two internal coordinators: Rodrigo Lacerda (CRIA – NOVA FCSH) and Camila Marinelli (USTAN). Together with the Project Coordinator and three representatives from the Steering Committee, they form the Executive Committee, which meets monthly.

The Executive Committee is responsible for preparing Progress Reports and an annual activities report, organizing meetings with the Steering Committee, and maintaining engagement with the Scientific Committee and the Social Advisory Board. Additionally, they ensure continuous communication with the WP Leaders to oversee the timely submission of deliverables.

Scientific Committee

Comprising five academic researchers in Indigenous knowledges with recognized international prestige, this committee is responsible for validating the annual activities report produced by the Executive Committee. Additionally, its members will take part in EDGES activities and may contribute to planned publications.

Social Advisory Board

To enhance the social impact of EDGES, a Communication Board has been established, composed of six specialists in the fields of scientific, cultural, social, and institutional communication. The board will meet annually online to oversee the effective implementation of the communication strategy, providing advice and guidance throughout.

Individually, board members are also encouraged to participate in EDGES activities and contribute to planned deliverables. A key goal of the board is to foster new connections and build sustainable relationships between EDGES members and other cultural, educational, and governmental institutions, paving the way for future partnerships.
